Question to answer: According to Ishmael can we save the world? and according to you?

My answer:
Well with what I have read Ishmael possibly think we could but we would have to sacrafice a lot. Such as food, electricity, supplies, and more. Which we are the takers of this world and in the book it mentions that to return as a leaver is a big sacrifice. I totally agree with Ishmael, if we would really want to save the world we would have to stop using machinery, cars, well things that harm our earth. Which many people would not give up because now a days we have cars to take us to a location or to their job which helps feed their families well support themselves. If we were to give up everything many people would also die which will also hurt us because what if one of those who die is a doctor we would not be able to heal anybody who is in danger. So overall my opinion on saving our world is well if we tried to save our earth all i can say is that we would have to sacrifice A LOT!!!!!!!

Quote: Leavers are those who live in the hands of the gods.

Question: What does it mean to live in the hands of the gods?

Comment:
Okay well this quote grabbed my attention because throughout the whole book they talk about the takers and leavers. The takers were the ones that were civilized and the leavers were the primative ones. Then going forward in the book we found out that the leavers are those who live in the hands of the gods. Most people are takers so that meant most people just moved on with their lives and left the past behind. Which in the book I understood that takers where the ones who new from good and evil which meant they were most likely like the gods because in the book when the gods talked they would say they new from good and evil and who shall live or die. Which there was also the tree of knowledge of good and evil. In my opinion to live in the hands of the gods means well in the book there was a part when I beleive when they were telling a story they said that if you were to plant your own food you would no longer live in the hands of god you would rule yourself but if you just stored your food the gods had control over you.

Quote: The past is something to be put behind us, something to escape from.

Question: Why doesMother culture think that we shall leave the past behind?

Comment: Well I was very fond of this quote because well yet even though until this day we are learnning about the past from dinasaur age to present age. Some people also still argue with problems from back then. Plus something that I wondered about this quote from the book was that Mother Culture stated that we shall leave the past and go on with the present. I agree but not many people do it if so our world would be very different. We would not be studying all the history we study today. We wouldn't have as much problems that we have today. I am not saying that is all we have is problems.I am trying to come across that our earth has little problems that take from the past that effect today. Yet even though Mother Culture stated this we always look back in the past such as when we read about Adam and Eve. We all talked about what had happend and some of my fellow classmates had discussions of what hapened and in some of the discussions some people didn't agree with some things. Well overall this quote may mean something to some people but obviously it did not effect us this day.

Quote: The world was made for man.

Question: What if we were something else such as an animal?

Comment:
Well this quote we were talking about it in class but I was thinking what if we were an animal in such. We would not think that the earth was made for just humans. Yes as we are human we think that this earth was made mostly for us but if you think about it if we were ants we would think the earth was made for ants and humans are just apart of life. Ishmael is the gorilla and when he asked the jellyfish this question. The jellyfish thought of course that our earth was made for them. In my opinion I think that our earth was made for every living organism. The only thing is that we as human s usually well we care for humans more than other things. Well i guess you can say some humans are selfish and don't think much for animals. Some humans do care for them very much.

The Story of Man

Vania Ramirez

The way it all started was when there was only dinosaurs and well they took over our world well that was the only thing on our earth. Then after that came the monkeys which when there was monkeys for somewhat came cave men i think in between the time of dinosaurs and monkeys. Which the cavemen are likely humans and as time passed people where in our earth and which now is how in my perspective the story of man. well there is many stages that came monkeys to caveman to human beings. Which later in time some came up with fire some with technology some people invented new things and then if you look now a days you see around us we have computers, televisions, schools and more which is all because of mankind.

Well another version of how man started was well of course the adam and eve story.

Quote: As everyone knows eyes speak.

Question: How was the narrator be able to understand what the gorilla was saying by just looking at its eyes?

Comments: well in this part of the book the narrator is talking to the gorilla and the narrator is very surprise that the gorilla is speaking to him. The gorilla was trying to just tell the narrator his story but the narrator was very distracted that an animal was speaking to him. The narrator had asked for his name but the gorilla explained that when they were little well in the 30's they were usually taken from their mothers and their mothers would get killed and they would be animal collected. Which the gorilla was telling the narrator about the animal problems. Well this quote caught my attention because I agree with it because if you actually try it you can usually understand what emotions they are feeling. which apparently the narrator saw the gorillas eyes and he saw the way he felt being sold to the zoo and getting taken away from the mother. But not only did the narrator understand what the gorilla was saying by looking at his eyes he was also talking to him with words.
